You should by all means preview your images in CMYK, but submit files to us in RGB format to allow for conversion to our non-standard CMYK inks. Previewing in CMYK will alert you to the possible selection of non-attainable colors such as the bright RGB neon-like reds, greens, and blues which will not reproduce the same as they are displayed on your monitor.
The native resolution of the Iris printer is 300 dpi. Our software allows image files (not Postscript files) to be enlarged smoothly, so files may be saved at 150 or 100 dpi and still retain smoothness. Optimum resolution is often a matter of RAM and storage limitations. We recommend saving image files that are to be printed with as high a resolution as possible. Please keep in mind that for the image to print at the size you anticipate, you must use 300, 150, 100, 75, 60, 50, 42.85, or 37.5 dpi/ppi. Dpi below 100 should be reserved for art in which pixels are intentionally prominent, or for Iris prints that will be viewed at a distance, such as in tiling, wherein several Iris prints will be joined together for a mural effect.
