What is a Giclée Print?

You may already have seen these prints on display in museums or for sale at galleries. A giclée print falls between serigraph and lithograph in both quality and economy. The French word "giclée" (pronounced zhee-clay) literally means "to sputter." Our 3047 ink jet printer and its proprietary ink and ink calibration system result in virtually continuous tone prints. A combination of specially-formulated inks and unique pre-print system produces an unquestionably high-quality print.

For the above image, the original painting was photographed and the resulting transparency was digitally scanned to create a CMYK file. This image file was carefully color corrected, printed on our Iris printer, and finally professionally coated.
