FINE Condition
Binding Details: Signed custom binding by the Harcourt Bindery, Charlestown, Massachusetts bound in three-quarter morocco leather over complimentary cloth covered boards with raised bands to the spine, gilt titles and ruling, and decorative central gold gilt motifs. Single gilt lines to the boards and corners. There are hand-sewn silk endbands, marbled endpapers, with the top page edges gold gilted. The Harcourt Bindery label appears on the bottom of the last free endpaper.

Originally performed in classical Athens in 411 BC, Lysistrata is an account of one woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War. This edition was published by the Heritage Press in 1962 and features numerous line drawing illustrations by Pablo Picasso with many of them being full page. The book is translated and introduced by Gilbert Seldes.
Measures approximately 10.5” x 8.5” with 117 pages.
Condition Report: The binding is in FINE condition. Internally, the book is very clean with no signs of previous ownership. Overall, this is a beautiful binding that houses a classic work of literature illustrated by Picasso.
