This is a signed limited edition of "Oedipus” published by the Limited Edition Club in 1989 with a limitation of 650 copies this being number 46. Originally published in German in the same year, this book is the first English language edition of Swiss playwright Friedrich Durrematt's cynical, comical and labyrinthine retelling of the Oedipus myth. It is accompanied by two splendid gravures by world renowned photographer Marie Cosindas which have been printed from the original negatives.
Measuring approximately 14.5” by 10.5”, the book is bound in full burgundy Nigerian goatskin over linen covered boards and is housed in a linen slipcase lined in ultrasuede. The book was designed by Benjamin Shiff and it is printed on Cartiere Enrico Magnani paper with Didot English monotype. The photogravures were printed on Arches paper by Jon Goodman. The translation was done by Leila Vennewit and a foreword for this edition was written by the author.
The book and slipcase are in FINE condition. The book has been signed by Marie Cosindas and Friedrich Durrematt on the limitation page.
