This is a signed limited edition of “The Lulu Plays” published by the Arion Press in 2015 with a limitation of 400 with this being number 139. From the publisher, "One of Arion’s most ambitious artist books, this limited edition contains 67 drawings by William Kentridge bound into the book. The text is the original telling of the Lulu story by playwright Frank Wedekind, which inspired the silent cinema classic Pandora’s Box and the Alban Berg opera Lulu. The images were derived from brush and ink drawings for projections for Kentridge’s 2015 production of Alban Berg’s opera Lulu, which was based on the two Wedekind plays from the turn of the century, Earth Spirit and Pandora’s Box. Following its acclaimed run at the Metropolitan Opera, Kentridge’s production opened in London on November 9, 2016 at the English National Opera, and in Rome on May 17, 2017.”

The book measures 13.5” x 10” with 176 pages and printed by letterpress in black and red with the 67 illustrations bound into the book which is housed in an illustrated slipcase. The book is numbered and signed by William Kentridge. Accompanying the book is the original prospectus.

The book and slipcase are in MINT condition still in the publisher’s original packaging.
