Time of Change: Civil Rights Photographs by Bruce Davidson

Signed Deluxe Limited Edition, 11 of 100

Includes Signed and Numbered Silver Gelatin Print

MINT Condition

This is a signed deluxe limited edition of the classic photobook “Time of Change: Civil Rights Photographs, 1961 - 1965” published by St. Ann’s Press, Los Angeles in 2002 with a limitation of 100 this being number 54. Included with the book is an original silver gelatin print (cover image of the book) that is hand-numbered and signed in pencil on the verso by Bruce Davidson. From the publisher: “There are two reasons to buy Time of Change: First, it’s flat-out the best photography book about the civil-rights movement; second, it unfolds like a great political drama, beginning in New York in 1961 and ending in the South during the mid-‘60s marches. The ability to enter so sympathetically into what seems superficially an alien environment remains Bruce Davidson’s sustained triumph; in his investigations he becomes the friendly recorder of tenderness and tragedy.”

Measuring approximately 12” x 11.5” and containing 140 tritone plates printed on heavy stock fine paper, the book is bound in black colored cloth covered boards. The book has been boldly signed and numbered (11 of 100) by Bruce Davidson on the title page. The original silver gelatin print is 10” x 8”. The print is hand numbered and signed in pencil on the verso by Bruce Davidson. The print is housed in a separate cloth portfolio in a beveled window overmat for presentation. Both the book and matted photograph are housed in a larger black cloth slipcase.

The book, print, and slipcase are in MINT condition.

Photographs of the book, print, as well as several photographs contained in the book appear in the photo section of the listing.
