Binding Details: A beautiful binding that features ornate and dramatic decorative sculpted metal covers with 5 rhinestones on the front cover. The glossy gold-tone polished brass finish detailing extends to the spine and the back cover. The pastedowns and endpapers are made of a silver and white patterned floral treatment.
Book Details: The Knight in the Panther’s Skin is an epic poem which was written in the 12th century by the Georgian Poet Shota Rustaveli, who was a Prince at the royal court of Queen Tamar of Georgia. The poem is widely regarded as Georgia’s national epic and is highly praised by literary critics for its language and dramatic effect.
This book was presented as a gift from former Deputy Defense minister of Georgia, Grigol Katamadze, and bears a long inscription signed by him on the free page opposite the title page. The inscription appears in the photo section of the listing.
Measuring 9.75” x 7.25”, the book contains a frontispiece and numerous page decorations.
Condition Report: The book is in Near FINE+ condition with some minor scratches and marks to the decorative metal covers. Internally, the book is clean and without marks. There is one page with a tear and fold which appears in the photo section of the listing. Overall, the book is in excellent condition.
